eBay: the widest audience for almost anything
eBay is the go-to for selling electronics, collectibles, parts and niche items to a global audience. It has more fees and steps than Vinted, but far more reach and better price discovery. Here's how to start.
1. Auction vs Buy-It-Now
- Buy-It-Now (fixed price) — best for most items; set a fair price and wait. Add "Best Offer" to let buyers negotiate.
- Auction — best for rare, collectible or hard-to-price items where competition drives the price up. End at a peak time (Sunday evening in your main market).
2. Price from real data
Search your item, filter to "Sold items", and price from what actually sold — not hopeful asking prices. This is eBay's biggest advantage. See pricing & negotiation.
3. Photos, title and description
- Multiple clear daylight photos from every angle, plus close-ups of flaws.
- A keyword-rich title: brand, model, size, condition — exactly what buyers type.
- Fill in item specifics (they power search filters) and describe condition honestly.
4. Shipping and getting paid
- Set accurate shipping costs (or free shipping baked into the price) and post promptly with tracking.
- Understand eBay's final-value fees so your price leaves a profit.
- Provide great service — fast dispatch and accurate descriptions build the feedback that sells your future listings.
